Excellence in Financial Education
At Bodriggy Academy, we aim to provide our children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage money well, both now and in the future. We aim to empower our children to manage their finances as independently as possible and be aware of possible pitfalls regarding money. This involves teaching children in all year groups about money and money management at an age-appropriate level.
Some of the examples of many opportunities we have provided over the last three years include:
- Lessons on budgeting meals, including visits to farm shops, local butchers, fish market, restaurants and shops to consider food cost and shopping budgets.
- Providing each class with a fixed budget to design, produce and promote a product at our Healthy Food Celebration. This also included creating advertising posters and running pop-up shops to sell goods and evaluate subsequent profit and losses.
- Production of family recipe cards to promote healthy eating at a budget!
We are currently working towards renewing our PFEG Centre of Excellence Award we originally achieved in 2016 with a range of new and exciting topics and activities for all our children.
