Bodriggy Academy
Happy children, achieving together.
Some of our latest news. For further information about what our children have been doing, please find our newsletters or our Facebook page using the quick links in the top right hand corner of the homepage of this website. Thank you for looking!
The children in Y5/6 spent an afternoon at Cornhill Farm this week. They met Farmer Pete and his wife Jenny. Pete gave the children a tour of the farm and explained what his life as a chicken farmer is like. The children had lots of questions and we are grateful to Pete for giving up his time. The trip has provided plenty of inspiration and the children are going to design their own farms next week.
What a fantastic evening! Well done to the 12 Bodriggy Singers who represented our school at the Penzance Songfest event, this evening. There is just something so special about a massed choir of children’s voices- they really did themselves proud and had fantastic fun.
Nursery & Reception:
What an egg-citing day it was today. The children witnessed some of our chicken eggs hatching right in front of their eyes! A truly magical experience for the children. A big thank you must go to Cornwall Countryside Supplies for donating the fertile eggs for us to incubate. More chicks due to hatch in the next 24hrs!
All term, children have been benefitting from Bikeability or Balanceability sessions, helping them to know how to look after their bikes and preparing them to ride safely on the roads. Well done everyone!
LKS2 enjoyed an amazing trip to the Weir. They carried out science investigations linked to their topic of Tremors and also produced some rock sculptures inspired by Andy Goldsworthy
We have all had such an amazing Science Week! Every class took part in lots of investigations and the photos show some of what we got up to. Thank you to Mrs Stephens for organising the week and to all of the staff for the exciting science they planned for us!
Today, the whole school took part in a Red Nose and Spoon Race, for Comic Relief. Here’s Year 3/4 completing their races in the sunshine this afternoon. There was much laughing and cheering going on during the friendly races!
The children in Years 3&4 have worked really hard writing their reports about the tectonic plate activity in Quito, Ecuador, before filming using iPads and a green screen background or an interactive whiteboard. They finished their work by creating some fantastic news reports using iMovie. All of the editing, and making of the films, was undertaken by the children themselves. The films can be found on our Facebook page. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed creating them!
The children in Y5/6 met Pete the farmer via a zoom call today. He gave them a brief tour of Cornhill Farm, explained what his job entails and showed them around the chicken house. The children had lots of questions for Pete and he answered some, but the rest will have to wait until the class visits to the farm at the end of the month. We are grateful to Pete for giving up some of his day to talk to us.
We have had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day. Thank you for all the amazing costumes. We met the author, Scott Jones, listened to the World Book Day rap, took part in a range of book activities and listened to lots of stories.
