July 2023 The Big Sing

A group of ten Key Stage 1 children took part in The Big Sing, at The Hall for Cornwall. This was a fantastic event put together by the ASONE Music Hub.  The children spent the morning learning some songs to then perform them in the afternoon, as-part-of a massive choir of children from across Cornwall. This was the first time many of these children had been to an event like this and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

March 2023 Songfest

Eleven members of our Bodriggy Singers Choir took part in the annual ASONE Music Hub's Songfest event, at St John's Hall in Penzance. They spent the first few months of the year learning the songs that they then performed, on stage, with children from other schools in the West Cornwall area.  This is always an amazing event and the children thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.  They also got to watch the first half of the show, where children from local secondary school's performed in their bands and music ensembles - which helped to give the younger children something to aspire to.

March 2023 Voice in a Million

Thirty children (and a group of staff and parent helpers) had the most amazing experience when they embarked upon a 24hour round trip to Wembley Arena to take Part in Voice in a Million 2023.  This was the first time we had taken part in this event and the first time that many of the children had ever been to a venue of this size. It really was spectacular event and a unique experience for the children to sing as part of a choir of thousands!

November 2022 The Sixteen Workshop

A group of 15 children, from Bodriggy Singers, took part in a vocal workshop hosted by Cornwall Music Service Trust, at St Ives Junior School. The workshop was run by members of an amazing choral vocal ensemble called The Sixteen.

The focus of the session was storytelling through song.  The children learnt to sing in parts and rounds whilst telling the story of a journey through a woods.  They then broke off into groups to compose their own part of the story.  It was a fantastic morning and the children gained some fantastic new skills to take back to choir.
