Word Millionaires

In KS2, we use the Accelerated Reader scheme. Children can read books and then quiz on them to check their understanding of the book. Every time a quiz is completed, the amount of words read is saved. Each week on the newsletter, a top ten word count is produced. 

We now have THREE millionaire word readers, who have read over a million words since September!

The Bodriggy Reading Teapot
The Bodriggy Reading Teapot is now full! All of the children who have achieved their black band in reading (for reading at least 180 times at home this year) have signed their names. What a successful year of reading!

Silver Stories

Our Y5/6 children have enjoyed taking part in the Silver Stories programme this year. Each week, they spend half an hour reading stories to an older member of the community, and there is always time for a good natter too!

The children were delighted to receive a card in the post thanking them for their efforts. They were even more delighted to find a £50 book token inside! 

Each Silver Reader was able to buy a book of their choice as a reward. 

Everyone is keen to carry on sharing stories next year. 

During our recent book fair, the PTFA sold £710.82 worth of books! They also ran a competition asking the children to draw their favourite book character. The photo shows some of the amazing entries. Five winners won a £5 book token to buy a new book from the book fair. 📚
