Black History Month
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” - Nelson Mandela
Throughout October 2022, the children recognised and celebrated Black History Month at Bodriggy.
There was a real buzz around the school, with children listening to history making music from a whole range of black artists, as well creating whole class artworks of influential black individuals.
Lots of children also took part in the whole school challenge to create a poster about a significant black individual and the effort that was put in to each piece was overwhelming – which made it incredibly difficult to choose two winners! Each poster was informative and unique, and a great personal expression of each child.
After much deliberation, the KS1 award went to Sena Suliman and her wonderful poster of Dame Shirley Bassey, and the KS2 award to Emma Cortes with her super poster of Mae Jemison.
Thank you once again to ALL the children in Bodriggy for embracing Black History Month and recognizing its significance and relevance – you have done yourselves and your community proud.
