Upper Key Stage 2

Upper Key Stage 2 are currently learning to play the Ukulele. The children are working hard at learning a new chord, each week, and then putting them together to learn some basic songs.  The children are learning to read the notes on the stave and to strum to the beat. They are following the ukulele unit on Charanga and thoroughly enjoying it.

Last term they had a music technology unit where they learnt to use Garage Band to create tracks.  They learnt how to layer instruments starting with drums then built in bass and acoustic guitar.  Their next step was to record in a live instrument and/or voice. Through this they learnt about: tempo, dynamics, time signatures, beats per minute, notes and chords and music production. The tracks sounded fantastic. Most children chose to compose linking to their topic theme.

Across all of their learning, singing is used as a way to help children learn, embed and remember.
