Science Week 2023 at Bodriggy Academy
This year, our whole school theme for science week is Materials. From the 10th - 19th March our children will be exploring and taking part in investigations all linked to our theme.
If you really want to show off your knowledge, or have a go at exploring materials and their properties at home, why not enter our whole school competition? It is open to all children from Nursery to Y6. For more details see the poster below.
Materials Poster Competition Winners!
Wow! We had so many entries for our first science poster competition!
It was incredibly hard to choose a winner from each phase. The effort from everyone who took part was fantastic.
After careful consideration, we narrowed it down to several finalists, from across all phases. There were lots of them! These children all had the chance to pick a small prize. Well done!
After more deliberation, we decided on our overall phase winners.
From Y5/6, Seb produce an impressive mixed media poster all about glass.
From Y3/4, Sophie demonstrated some brilliant facts about water.
From Y1/2, Jago produced a HUGE interactive and carefully thought out poster about many different materials.
From EYFS, Maria told us all about cotton as well as recycling some clothing to make a bunny!
Our winners then had the chance to choose a prize from a given selection. Both Seb and Jago went for a mini robot. Sophie and Maria both decided on the ice-cream maker kit. Huge smiles and pride were beaming from all children as they were presented with their certificates and prizes.
Well done to everyone who took part. We are already very excited about what next year's competition will be!

STEM DAYS with the Armed Forces for Years 3 and 6
This week, on Friday 23rd June, ten of our Year 3 children will be applying their knowledge from the workshop to a Lego Robotics Competition in Falmouth! It has been organised by the Armed Forces team and we are only one of ten schools taking part! Very exciting indeed!
