Why learn another language?
Learning another language;
- Encourages curiosity about and respect for other cultures and enables children to understand their place in the wider world.
- Enables children to explore and apply strategies to improve their learning- encouraging independence and resilience that can be used across all areas of learning.
- Encourages children to draw comparisons between French and English grammar, syntax and sentence structure, as a tool for developing their understanding of both languages.
- Improves the brain’s ability to direct and manage attention- improving thinking skills, memory abilities and the brain’s natural ability to focus.
- Provides opportunities for singing, games and group work.
- Encourages children to find enjoyment in learning another language through having a go with their peers.
- Provides fun, pride and a sense of achievement at all stages- whether it be a word or a full sentence, either spoken or written!
- Opens the door to a wide range of possibilities and job opportunities.
