  • A sporting afternoon in Years 5&6

    Mon 14 Feb 2022

Year 5/6 had a fantastic afternoon of sporting competition yesterday! The children chose which sport they'd like to compete in - tag rugby, handball or hockey - then played in teams in a round robin. We were all very impressed by the positive attitudes and sportsmanship on show.

  • Cross Country Success!

Wed 09 Feb 2022 Mr Simons

Over the last few weeks, our cross country runners have been joining me to run around the school cross country course. Every child is improving, both in how well they are running and how much they are enjoying it! Last Monday, we took a team of 14 runners to St Ives Rugby Club to run in the Penwith League. This was our second race. In the first race at Hayle before Christmas, 5 of these children finished in the top 20 (out of approximately 60 runners!). This time, 10 of our children finished in the top 20 and every child improved. In addition, we had children who finished the race for the first time and had 4 children in the top 10! Their improvement has inspired others in school to want to join the lunchtime runs, helping our team to grow.

However, I know the team will want me to make a special mention of Alfie-Lee who created one of the moments of the afternoon for all of us. Alfie came 5th in the race before Christmas so we were all excited when he was out in front at the end of the first lap this time. Some other very talented boys spent the second lap gradually catching him but, supported by an army of Bodriggy children cheering him on, he managed to sprint away from them up the hill to the finish and won his race! A proud moment for him and us all.

Well done everyone! Keep up the practising and we'll see what happens in the final race after half term...

  • Volcanoes in the style of Nick Rowland

Wed 02 Feb 2022 Mrs Tredinnick

Th children in Years 3&4 have been learning about volcanoes. In art, they have created these paintings of volcanoes based on the layering techniques that artist Nick Rowland uses in his art work

The children first created a background using paint. Next, they added some texture to their work using tissue paper and crepe paper. Finally, they added the eruption by loading a toothbrush with wet paint before flicking it at their paintings-lots of messy fun!
