Bodriggy Academy
Happy children, achieving together.
Some of our latest news. For further information about what our children have been doing, please find our newsletters or our Facebook page using the quick links in the top right hand corner of the homepage of this website. Thank you for looking!
We are very excited to announce that we will be trialling a new initiative, here at Bodriggy that will support to reduce traffic outside of the school gates and give children a healthy, more active start to their day.
We are calling this initiative ‘Bodriggy Academy Park and Stride’.
How it works:
Parents can arrive at Hayle Football club from 8.25am and park their cars. There will be school staff there to meet and greet. For children in Year 4 and under, we ask that parents remain with their child for the walk. Children from year 5 and 6 can be left with staff. We will then depart at 8.30am (prompt) and follow the approved route to school, arriving for 8.45am. Parents can then make the short walk back to their cars, once children are safely at school and through the gates.
Our aims for this initiative are to reduce congestion outside of school which will therefore improve safety for those walking on the paths and crossing the roads. We would also love to promote a healthier start to the day, both physically and mentally, as children can walk, talk and socialise, making them refreshed and ready for their day.
Starting Wednesday 11th June and continuing every Wednesday until the end of term.
If you are concerned about a child’s safety during the school holiday, please contact the Multi Agency Referral Unit (MARU) on 0300 123 1116.
A massive ‘well done’ to the children who took part in the ASONE Music Hub’s Songfest event at St John’s Hall, this evening. They were fantastic and, as always, did themselves and Bodriggy Academy proud. Singing as part of a massed choir of local primary schools, they performed a selection of songs in a mixture of Celtic languages and English-no small feat!
Congratulations to Bodriggy Block Busters on winning the ‘Engineering Excellence Award’ at the Lego League Cornwall Finals.
An action-packed day at RNAS Culdrose with a plethora of exciting activities from VR and coding to AI building battles. The children represented the team and the school amazingly; the judges commended them on their innovation project presentation and core values.
It’s safe to say, plans for next year are already underway!
We had the best time taking 40 Key Stage 2 children to Birmingham to perform as part of the Young Voices choir. The children behaved impeccably and have been left with memories that will last a lifetime.

Year 5 had a fun and informative time at the Junior Life Skills event held at Tolvaddon Fire Station.
We were very proud of the children’s behaviour and attitude. Well done Year 5.
A huge thank you to all who took part in putting this event together and imparting such important knowledge.
What a turnaround for our netball team. This week, the children won their first match 1-0 and their second 2-0. They played brilliantly as a team and showed lots of improvement from the first round of the league. Great job, Bodriggy!
SOS Day, wearing plenty of orange and holding a special assembly. We also asked for the children's helping in raising some money and we were blown away by the amount raised. Well done Bodriggy!
Year 3 and 4 have been working hard over the last two weeks, creating an instruction for the mummification process
Howard Carter Visits Year 3/4!
Year 3/4 were treated to a visit from ‘Howard Carter’ to launch the new topic ‘Pharaohs and Farming’. After meeting Howard Carter, and learning about when he found Tutankhamen’s tomb of treasures, the children took part in various activities including: a pyramid card game, an archaeology workshop, a hieroglyphs game, a cartouche trail, and a hieroglyphs quiz.
