Wow! What a brilliant first game for the girls’ football team. They all had an amazing time and won 5-4. This means they move into the next round of the cup. Well done everyone!
Over the past three days, the children in UKS2 have spent a day at the Bodmin Keep: Cornwall’s Army Museum where they have been able to explore and learn about Cornwall’s rich military history and heritage. This trip fits in perfectly with the Y5/6 topic: A Child’s War. The children were able to learn about life as a home guard, dress up as soldiers, shop with a ration list, play with WW2 toys and learn how to tie a complex knot military style! The staff at the museum commented on how interested, knowledgeable and well-behaved the children were.
Last week, twelve Year 5/6 children were chosen to take part in an art workshop at the Tate Gallery in St Ives. Here, the children spent some time in the gallery, studying the artwork in the Casablanca Art School exhibition. First, they made mini books, called ‘zines’ which they filled with their artwork inspired by the exhibition. After this, the children made bigger zines and used collage techniques to build their artwork using paper cut-outs, folding techniques and colourful shapes, cut out of various materials. They all did a fantastic job and represented Bodriggy Academy brilliantly.
Ms Bragg, Mr Wood & Miss Carroll classes had a wonderful Cinderella ball today. We danced, feasted on our own homemade treats and watched a pantomime too. What a day!
This week, some children in Year 5/6 had the fantastic opportunity of dancing with Dame Darcey Bussell, the world-famous ballerina!
Throughout the workshop, each school had the chance to go up on to the stage to learn a dance with Darcey as part of her Divers Dance MIX programme. Bodriggy learnt a 1920's Charleston dance, which was enjoyed by all! The teachers even got the chance to make some ‘Night Fever’ moves on stage too.
It was a fantastic experience and a day that will be remembered for a long time. Our children were brilliant and enthusiastic throughout, even joining in from their seats when they weren’t on the stage (as you can see in the photos!).
We are proud to present to you our new 'Wildlife Garden', here at Bodriggy Academy.
This garden is the result of an exceptionally enthusiastic group of School Councillors, some equally enthusiastic Staff and the wonderful ANNED LTD and Jewson , with plants donated by the Mayor.
From a mind map of some very wild and wacky ideas to reality in a space of weeks, all produced out of kindness and a shared passion to make the world a better place for the future generation.
We are very lucky and proud to be Bodriggy!
We are so pleased to share that the hard work of the School Council, Miss Champion and the rest of the children and staff at Bodriggy has paid off and we have achieved our 'Eco- Schools Green Flag Award 2023-2024'. Well done everyone!
We have been presented with the ASONE Gold Cornish Singing Schools Award for all the fantastic singing that has taken place throughout the year! We are thrilled to have been recognised for this and it is another award to take pride of place alongside the collection that has started growing, over the last few weeks. Well done everyone!
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are very pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
We only went and won! Overall best out of 22 carnival entries! A massive thank you to everyone who turned out this evening. It was a truly special event and we cannot thank everyone enough for the support you continue to provide our amazing school. Here are a few photos. We will add more as they come in.
